You will be part of the Global Sustainability Team (GST) leading our company’s pioneering sustainability journey and the continuous evolution of our sustainability strategy. The sustainability strategy is built on three pillars: Climate Action, Circular Economy, Biodiversity and Responsible Business. It’s enabled by effective and responsible communication, stakeholder engagement, governance as well as data and analytics.
What you'll do
Are you passionate about sustainable development and environmental issues? Do you want to be a key player in driving Volvo Cars' work towards a more sustainable future? We are now looking for an experienced and dedicated specialist in systematic environmental management. You will be part of a team responsible for maintaining and developing our environmental management system, as well as ensuring its implementation and compliance throughout the group. As a specialist in environmental management, you will work closely with our various business areas and ensure that our environmental management processes meet the high standards set by Volvo Cars.
Your key responsibilities will be to maintain and continuously improve Volvo Cars' environmental management system according to the ISO 14001 standard at the corporate level. You will streamline the group's environmental management work by developing corporate instructions and working with communication and implementation of these. Develop the work with materiality analysis of what affects the environment (environmental aspects) and coordinate this work globally. Moreover, you will:
• Work with governance, coordination, and follow-up of the group's work to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability requirements and legislation globally.
• Support and guide our business areas in the implementation of the various processes of the environmental management system.
• Develop and implement training programs to increase awareness of environmental issues and promote a sustainability culture within the company.
• Drive and participate in environment-related projects and initiatives within the group, including risk assessments and improvement measures.
• Coordinate and manage internal environmental audits to maximize both environmental and business value.
• Follow up and report environmental performance and propose improvements to reduce environmental impact.
• Stay updated on new legal requirements, standards, and industry trends in environmental management and sustainability.
This position is based at Volvo Cars’ international HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden and you will report to the Head of Governance & Responsible Business.
What you'll bring
We believe that you are a devoted sustainability and environmental professional with solid experience in working with environmental management according to ISO 14001 at an international level. You have a relevant academic education in environmental science, sustainability, or equivalent field. You have experience in leading environmental audits and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation. On top of this, we think that you have:
• Strong communication skills and experience working with various stakeholders at multiple levels within an organization.
• A proven ability to drive projects and implement environmental management systems in complex organizations.
• An analytical and structured approach with the ability to solve problems and implement improvement measures.
• Communication skills, both spoken and written English.
